Tennis in the United States is played on three kinds of places: public park courts run by a city or county, member clubs and country clubs with their own pros and leagues, and commercial tennis centers that sell court time by the hour. Public courts are usually free and first come, first served, with a posted limit (often 60-90 minutes when others are waiting); busier cities run online reservation systems with a small fee and a permit for the season. Indoor courts are rented by the hour and booked days ahead in winter. Most facilities are hard courts; clay is common in the Southeast and at private clubs, and grass is rare. Lights extend play into the evening at many parks, sometimes with a coin or app-operated switch.

Traffic in Rochester peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. EDIT: Please get a golf simulator! It would do sooo well, especially in the winter months. I absolutely love Midtown Athletic Club! The classes are one of my favorite things about being a member. They feel personalized and honestly feel more like a training session than a typical group fitness class. They also mix in so many of my favorite activities, like barre, cycling, cardio classes, boxing, and so much more... There is genuinely something to do every single day. The club can occasionally get a full parking lot which can be intimidating, but I’m never waiting around for a machine or for whatever activity I want to do, which I really appreciate. Even with how much they have going on, the atmosphere is still relaxing, welcoming, and comfortable. ALSO - There are multiple events every month to bring people together! I genuinely love spending time here. I also have to give a HUGE shoutout to Sarah Woerner. She is seriously amazing! I needed help with something and reached out to her, and she was so friendly, warm, and incredibly helpful. She went above and beyond to see what she could do and made everything so easy. She truly makes things happen and made me feel like she genuinel

I've held off on reviewing Midtown for a long while. I really wanted to see whether the price was worth it. After a year and change I can confidently say that it really is worth every penny. If you enjoy guided classes, excellent workout equipment, and a terrific pool, then it's a great value. There are always events going on, and there's truly something for everyone. The staff has consistently been attentive and polite - ready to answer questions and help when they are able. While not perfect, they do a quality job. The club is generally extremely clean and well taken care of. They send surveys quarterly and your concerns are addressed individually with explanations about what steps are being taken to resolve any outstanding problems. All told, that transparency is worth the premium. I've genuinely enjoyed my time and I'm lookin forward to getting even more out of it this year. The price point is not exactly cheap, but if you take advantage of what they offer, it's more than worth it.

I’m blown away by the amount of weekly classes and the top notch instructors! There’s something for everyone! A very welcoming club with very nice amenities. There are so many other fitness facilities but Midtown truly takes it up a notch and much more. It’s so worth the monthly fee as it’s not just a club/gym, it’s a lifestyle. A lifestyle focussing on health and wellness. I joined a month ago and it’s the best thing I’ve done for myself! Truly grateful.

This gym is Rochester's version of Equinox/Life Time at a similar price point. There are several pro's and con's. The gym is fairly nice and well maintained with amenities such as: outdoor pool/hot-tub, steam room, sauna. They also offer several classes throughout the day that are included in your membership. However, for someone like myself that would come after work (~5pm) this place is a zoo. It was always a challenge to find parking and sometimes I would have to park in the furthest lot and walk through the sludge just to get to the front door. Once you get in, you will be packed in like a sardine in the change room and then work-out's will be challenging because of how busy the place is. They only have one machine for certain exercises (biceps, calf raise, shoulder press). You would think at this price point, there would be limited interest, but that is not the case. I made the mistake of touring on a weekend when it was not busy, so I recommend you tour during the time you plan on going to the gym. If you are someone that works out in the morning or works from home, this place may be ideal. By the time I realized I was not enjoying the experience, it was too late to back ou
